Best Friends

Have you ever had a best friend that lived next to you or down the street from you growing up? I did. Her name is Erica Dore and she lived about 6 houses down from me. I met her when I was nine and we were inseparable ever since. We had our fair share of fun times and times where we got into trouble too. We could always be found riding our bikes, exploring the creek by our house, playing kickball or kick the can outside our houses, or inside playing Guess Who or Mario Brothers. It's true that we snuck out a lot (mostly my idea), and spent a good deal of the summer sleeping out on our tramp when it wasn't raining. I loved having a best friend that lived so close to do so much with. To this day we are still best friends, even though we live four states away from each other. The best thing about our friendship is that we can go weeks without talking, and then just pick up right where we left off.
I have always wished that my kids would have this type of friendship that I was so lucky to have.
Taegyn has a girl named Josie that lives right next door to us that I think will become her best friend too. They already play so much together. They both are full of attitude and great imaginations.
I know that if she is even half my daughter I will have to keep a watchful eye on her when her and Josie hit teenage years. I love watching them together even now because it reminds me of the friendship that Erica and I have. Here's to many years of trouble and fun!

Love their Stinkin' Guts!

I cannot tell you how much I just love my kids. True sometimes I can lose my temper with them and sometimes I shout more that I would ever like to, but it doesn't put a dent in how much happiness and joy that my three kids bring into my life.

I am amazed at how quickly they learn and grow, and at how attentive they really are when you think that their little ears and eyes aren't listening or paying attention.

It is true that Motherhood is the hardest job that I have ever done, but it's not without it's great rewards. I am grateful that the lord has entrusted me with these precious souls.

I am grateful that I was chosen to teach them and to help them to learn and grow.
deKyn, Taegyn, and Davyn, I LOVE YOUR STINKING GUTS!!!!!!!

Candy Bar Cheesecake with Whipped Chocolate Ganache

It is no secret that I love to cook, but I have got to tell you that I really really love to cook. It's true that there are some things that I like to cook more then others (i.e. cakes, cookies, candies, and such) but I really do like to try my hand at different types of dinners and soups. Well, tonight was no exception. We have a block Barbaque to go to tonight and I said I would bring the dessert. I was actually very excited about this, I went home, looked through some recipe books and found the perfect thing to make.

And of course being the kind of cook that I am, I had to add my own little tweeks to it as well. Hopefully it tastes as good as I think it looks!

New kid pictures

If you have recently been in my house, the pictures on my wall were in great need for an update! I had Davyn's new born picture up, and pictures of deKyn and Taegyn from almost two years ago. I had my good friend Nicole do my kids' pictures and I think that they turned out FANTASTIC! I love them. Thanks Nicole. Now we just need ones of the whole family and I will be set. By the way, there was just so many cute pictures, I had a hard time choosing which ones to show and which ones not to.

Love this girl to pieces
I love this picture of deKyn. He's just laid back.

Look at these baby blues!

deKyn's Pre-School Program

deKyn had his Pre-school program two weeks ago. He was so cute up there singing his songs and doing his dances. My favorite to watch had to have been the Chicken Dance. It was so funny. My poor boy has no rhythm what so ever. I am so proud of all that he has accomplished this year in pre-school. Cory and I couldn't have asked for better teachers and a better speech therapist for him. He does have one more year of pre-school before he can go into Kindergarten, but I know he is looking forward to it. Great Job deKyn, we love you!

Davyn's First Birthday

Davyn turned one on May 20th. I really don't know how the year has gone by so fast. I really do feel like I just brought him home from the hospital.

We had a good birthday with the family. My mom always makes the grandkids quilts for their first birthdays and Davyn was no exception. She did such a great job on his quilt.

It has sail boats all over it. I love the colors too. I am just greatful that she does these quilts because I think that it will be a great heirloom for my kids when they get older.

Davyn really wasn't that interested in opening his presents, which I really didn't think that he would be. But from the little bit that he did get, he got great stuff.

I decided to do something a little more non-traditional for a first birthday cake this year. I have to admit, I had a friend that gave me the idea. It's true that if I didn't do cakes, there is no way I would have ever gone this all out for a cake but, why not when the possibilities are endless?

Davyn was also the only kid of mine so far that would actually dig into his birthday cake and smash it all over himself and in his hair! LOVED IT!

It has been great watching my little blue eyed boy grow and learn everyday. He has been walking for over a month now, he is starting to learns signs and words, and he is starting to mimic what his older brother and sister do. He definatley keeps us on our toes, but his laughter and smile can melt your heart.

We love you Little Bug, Happy First Birthday!

First Cory, then deKyn, and now Taegyn

Yesterday was a pretty day. The weather was great! We thought it would be fun to eat a picnic out in the back yard. Apparently our back yard is not kid proof. Taegyn was sitting in her camping chair and fell backwards and hit her head oun our cement retaining wall. Cut her head right open. Of course it had to be Sunday when this happened so to the ER we went. It was the first time they have ever gotten us in and out quickly when we have gone to the ER. I don't know if the hurried us in because she was freaking out, of if it was because she was bleeding. The doctors and nurses were really nice to us and tried to help calm her down, which in turn made her even more frantic. She had watched deKyn get a staple in his head and was very adament that she didn't want staples to close the hole in her head. She got really mad when they put the "headband" on her head!
After the numbing medicine kicked in, they brought in the stuff to do the staple. It took three of us to hold her down so the doctor could put it in. Poor Taegyn. But as soon as we left, she was fine.
I wonder how she'll do when we get it taken out.
