Not only swell up, but swell shut. She got bit by something on her eyebrow in the afternoon, and by that night, she couldn't see out of her eye. 
The next day (after a trip to the ER, and lots of Benadryll), it looked a little better. 
She had an allergic reaction to whatever it was that happened to bite her.
Hopefully, it doesn't happen too often because I sure did feel bad for my little girl.
