Since we didn't have much money, we decided to use the resources that we had lying around. What might that have been you ask? Paint and a lot of wood. So, this is what we decided. Taegyn wanted "real" make-up from Santa, so we thought it would be a great idea to make her a Vanity with little boxes to put her make-up in and a mirror so that she could put it on.

For Davyn, we decided to refurbish (because it was in pieces) a rocking plane that Cory's real dad had made Cory when he was a baby.

As for deKyn, we were going to build him a sled, but ended up getting a really awesome one from is Uncle Garry.

So, our last big gift for our kids was their "BIG" gift from us. We built them a play house under our stairs in the basement. When I originally brought the idea up to Cory, I was thinking something small and modest with a door and a few windows that they could play in. Anyone that knows my husband, knows that he thinks a lot bigger. And when I say a lot bigger, I mean we have a two story play house with a slide that comes out half way into our room down stairs.

Even though the projects were stressful and time consuming and hard, our kids' faces when they saw their presents were priceless. I can tell you that they enjoy more the ones that we made for them than they do the ones we bought at the store.
It is also true that we ran out of time and so the painting job on our house isn't completely finished and the inside still needs some sheet rock, mudding, taping and paint, but that doesn't stop our kids from playing in it and sleeping in it every chance that they get.
